6 Reasons Young Boys Are Becoming Internet Fraudsters (Yahoo-Yahoo)
It is so disheartening (and disgusting) seeing many young guys today becoming internet fraudsters. It's getting worse, as you now see even secondary school boys (and girls too) joining the trend.
This is now beyond "mind your business", because the unpleasant effects of their actions keeps affecting everyone one way or the other. Today On the international scene, our society is being badly stigmatized, and everyone is scared of doing business with even the honest and legitimate ones among us.
As if that is not enough, these stupid boys are not only aiming foreign 'clients', but they are also trying to scam unsuspecting fellow citizens. Recently, someone told us how they drained the life savings of his aged mother from her bank account (they called her, claiming to be from her bank). Do you now see that it's everyone's responsibility to fight these digital bandits? Your aged parents could be their next victims.
Well, in this short article, I want to explore 6 reasons many young boys today are indulging in internet fraud.
Let's get started:
1. Greed:
Of course, this must top the list. Many of them will usually want to justify their actions with things like "I'm only doing this because there are no jobs in the country", forgetting that there are tons of other young guys in the same country who are not getting their hands stained with illicit ventures.
Guys that don't have contentment are dangerous individuals who will most likely do illegal things to make money. You should be careful about such guys. Parents and the society must teach our boys the essence and importance of contentment.
2. Lack Of Employment Opportunities
Yes, just like prostitution, some guys won't have become internet fraudsters only if they have something reasonable to do. We know poverty (and fear of poverty) is one factor that keeps pushing many people in immoral and illegal acts.
Nevertheless, we will never justify wrong things. There are always opportunities around that young guys can utilize. Get serious with your life. Rather than wasting time partying and carrying girls, devote your time to learning several productive skills. At least, one of the several skills will become a source of revenue eventually.
The society should also do more in terms of job opportunities (both the government and private individuals)
3. The Craze To Slay
Our so-called celebrities (the likes of Naira Marley, Wizkid, Davido, etc) are seriously influencing our young guys negatively. They are bad examples and there is nothing exemplary about them. Today, many foolish young guys want to paint the town red like these guys they watch on TV and social media (clubbing, latest designers, carrying prostitutes, etc), and they found themselves swimming in the dirty pool of fraud just to fund such lifestyle.
4. Laziness
Many of our young guys today are simply lazy. Many of those claiming "no jobs" are simply running away from jobs they consider "below my class". While I'm not advocating for settling for mediocrity, wisdom demands that you get busy with what is at hand while looking for better legal opportunities. An idle hand is the devil's workshop.
5. Peer Pressure
Of course, no need of spending much time on this one. That's why we always advise guys to carefully choose their friends. Don't become a friend with just any guy you meet out there.
6. Failed Parenting
Here is a pivotal factor. Having seen some guys who are indulging in internet fraud, many things keeps pointing to failed parenting.
Parents, please raise your boys with and in the fear of God. Introduce them to the LORD when they are still growing. Of course, you can't give what you don't have. Hence, you as a parent must be a God-fearing person too.
Teach your boys the right things. Take parenting seriously. Teach them to be contented with the little they have and not to take what doesn't belong to them. Monitor their movements and interests, and know those they are walking with (break any bad friendship). The Holy Book said: "The rod and rebuke give wisdom, but the child left to himself brings shame to his mother. Correct your son, and he will give you rest; yes, he will give delight to your soul." (Proverbs 29:15,17)
